Don’t let you little ones bring head lice home….
The beginning of term is an exciting time but less exciting is the increase in head lice. So, how do you get rid of the little blighters and how do you stop them from coming back?
Realize Beauty recommends Tea Tree oil, a lice comb and lashings of hair conditioner.
Wash hair as usual, slap on a lot of conditioner and get the child to keep it in the hair as you comb the hair thoroughly with the fine tooth lice comb. After rinsing, spray the hair with a mix of 1 part tea tree oil to 10 parts water (in a spritz bottle). Repeat until the creepy things are all gone!
Well this may be old news to some but what is it that the lice don’t like about Tea Tree oil? Tea tree oil is a natural insecticide. Much milder and safer than many other man made alternatives, Tea Tree oil has been shown to kill lice quickly and effectively. Australia’s Thursday Plantation carried out a study on the effectiveness of Tea Tree Oil last year. To read the report click here: Thursday Plantation Study
To keep lice at bay use a Tea Tree Oil infused shampoo regularly and run the comb through once a month just to be sure.
Good luck
