Lipfresh – A New Sensation!

September 29, 2009

Our good friend and cosmetic creator Angelique launched her new ultra- refreshing lip balm this month, just in time to kick of the Spring racing season!  Curious to find out more? Let us dish it up for you….

What makes it unique?

Being a go-getter Angelique likes her products to deliver multiple benefits to the user and this one is no different. Her lip balm promises to nourish and protect the lips while delivering a minty blast which freshens the breath – sounds like a good plan to me! It is also naturally protecting thanks to the blend of castor oil and beeswax.

And the key ingredients are…..

Mentha Piperita (Peppermint Oil). This essential oil delivers the long lasting minty freshness to the breath. Peppermint oil is also great at cooling the skin (that just washed feeling) and is often used as a stimulant – keeping you mind on the task at hand.

Vitamin C and E – While these are mainly in the formulation as part of the anti-oxidant package (stop the product from going off) both have excellent skin benefits. The vitamin C is in the formulation as Ascorbyl Palmitate – this is the fat soluble type (not surprising in a fatty lip balm).  This type of vitamin C is great for facilitating skin repair although you need quite a lot of it to get through the skin membrane before it does much good.  The Vitamin E is another fat soluble vitamin, essential for maintaining the skins barrier function.

The formulation also contains a naturally derived  film former – Glyceryl Hydrogenated Rosinate. This helps the lip gloss stick to the lips and gives it long lasting appeal while at the same time protecting the lipstick from oxidation and colour fading. Pretty neat really!

And finally.

We love the fact that this product has been made in Australia by Angelique and her team of wonder scientists!   We also like the fact that all of the key ingredients in this lip balm perform more than one task in the formulation – that makes this a multi-tasking genius in our book.
