Beauty Blogging Event, Sydney 2010
What a day, champagne for breakfast, eyebrow rehab @ Benefit Cosmetics, secret training on new Nivea launch, Orly manicure, Trilogy goody bag, Jane Iredale Mineral make-up , Elastoplasts for those little mishaps and BRAD NGATA to do our hair!!!!!! It could only be Maxted Thomas and their blogger event.
Maxted Thomas, (PR agency to the stars) knows a thing or two about the power of the blogger and today they celebrated the contribution that us little people make in the rather itchy sounding world of viral marketing. Bloggers do what they do because they love it, say what they say because they believe it and mostly just sit at home day after day, night after night testing, writing and putting themselves through pain (OK, you couldn’t call it pain) so that you don’t have to. Like them, I am also driven by some insane inner daemon that demands that I tell you all about my latest beauty discovery and scienteriffic wonder cream. I couldn’t stop even if you tried to pay me………. Well, I guess I could be open to negotiation on that one! BUT as altruistic as the blogging world is, it does feel good to get a pat on the back occasionally so thank you Maxted Thomas team.
And so to the pictures….
As you see above I was joined by around 40 bloggers at the Benefit beauty store in Paddington for some much-needed brow shaping and tinting. Apparently mine need to go into rehab as I have over plucked and under-nourished my poor little hairy friends – I did have to laugh when the lovely assistant working on me asked me to tell her about my brows. The only time I really gave them much thought was when I nearly burned them off with my bunsen burner in high school. Now I just pluck away randomly when I get five minutes (which is not often). Then, I usually get interrupted which results in one brow being ‘thinner’ than the other. Do I shape them? Let’s not go there…..
Nevertheless, after a rather dodgy start I ended up looking rather beautiful (well, I liked it) as you can see above.
After that we all made our way back to the Brad Ngata salon in Surrey Hills for a feast of beauty inspiration and pampering. I really enjoyed talking to other bloggers, finding out more soon-to-be-launched beauty products and trying out the new stuff – great fun! I only wish that I had cued up sooner for Brad as I missed having my hair styled by this Iconic hairdresser. Maybe next time…..
I have been blogging about beauty for the last year and a half and have enjoyed it immensely BUT it has not been easy. I worked out that I wrote around 150,000 words in about 320 articles last year. That is over 600 hours of (mostly unpaid) work! I love what I do and I have to say that I am one of the lucky ones as my blog is just starting to pay off financially as well as spiritually BUT it has not happened overnight. My advice to wannabe beauty bloggers is work out WHO you are (blog readers want to connect with YOU), WHAT your special area of interest is (new launches, science, girly stuff, natural etc) and HOW you are going to blog (how much time and money do you have to invest,). You also need to think about where you will get your inspiration as it can be a big ask to churn out fabulous posts day after day, week after week.
Good luck with it all, keep blogging and see you at the next Beauty Blogging event!

Simple Makeup Advice For Easy Beauty

Makeup on the face of every individual can make them look beautiful and great. But you know the correct way to apply makeup instead of applying without knowing any of the following tips.
1 – We start with the first step is the application of foundation on your face. Before the foundation, care for a sunscreen that suits your skin fit. This is done to your skin well hydrated to do. Then with the help of a tissue or cotton, apply some points of foundation on your face and blend into the skin with a gentle rubbing. Be sure to apply it so that no line to see where the foundation ends on her face.
2 – While the use of an eye shadow, make sure to apply only with the help of an angled brush and a light highlighter shade not apply in the final too, on a special light in my eyes. Additionally, you can also apply eyeshadow outer corner of the eyelids and the spread up. This will help you hide your eyes hanging.
3 – Thirdly, there are a number of different types of coatings of the eye. Each eyeliner is different, but necessary steps to apply the eyeliner are the same. You must first make sure the lid with one hand and eyeliner with one hand. And then begin to apply eyeliner on the outer eye, making short feathery strokes.
4 – Last but not least, while using a lipstick, you should always make sure to apply correctly so not to get lipstick on her teeth. Always use a lip pencil to outline lips. Even if you put lipstick, start the application from the center of the upper lip and move outward toward a corner and repeat the same procedure for the lower lip too.
Therefore, make sure before wasting your money on expensive makeup end, test your knowledge about the basic steps of applying makeup to develop. If you are not satisfied with this advice, then I suggest you find a makeup artist if she would be able to explain a number of other recommendations as well on apply make up.
