Funky, fruit butters.
It wasn’t long ago when the only butter you could get came in a thick slab that ripped your bread apart when you tried to spread it. It was hard to eat and yucky to wear. Thankfully these days you the cosmetic formulator has a mega range of butters, waxes and oils to play with including these delicious morsels that I picked up from the Australian importer yesterday.
You may be thinking ‘hmmmm how do they make butter out of a lime/ pumpkin/ coffee bean?’ A sensible question and something that requires a bit of chemistry to explain. The manufacturers actually extract the oil from the fruit/ berry/ vegetable and then pop it through a number of refining steps before adding it to some sweet almond and hydrogenated vegetable oil. This then get’s churned in the same way that you make eating butter and before you know it you have a lovely, rich moisturising ingredient.
These butters can be used to form the base of body, hair or facial moisturisers/ massage blends or can be used as they are for lip balms. Absolutely lovely!
If you want to get your hands on some speak to the guys at New Directions – They have a few on the range and will stock more if there is enough interest.
those butters look edible, like delicious sorbets
