Trilogy Age Proof Cleanser

July 10, 2011

Trilogy make some really lovely products and this creamy and gentle face resurfacing cleanser (can you gently re-surface?) is definitely one of them.  This light and moisturising cleanser enriched with natural fruit based exfolliants does it’s job without leaving you feeling raw and overly squeaky.  I am a quite a fan of fruit based exfollients just so long as they are not over-done  (less is best for every day use) and from the ingredients listing it looks like these actives are in at the right level.

The cleanser uses a mild blend of surfactants and adds to that moisturising ingredients based on jojoba, rosehip, sunflower and avocado oil which is why it feels so good. The skin re-surfacing actives are a blend of papaya and pineapple which contain actives called  papain and bromelain that have been proven to un-stick dead corneocytes from the skin’s surface leaving it looking more vibrant and brighter (you can read more on that here).  Further brightening comes in the form of Licorice, Mulberry and Marshmallow and the product is neatly preserved with phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin which give it a decent level of broad-spectrum protection.  If you are wondering what the titanium dioxide does well, in this formula it helps to make the product look white and creamy so don’t expect this to give you any sun protection!

Overall this product looks and feels really good and the smell isn’t bad either (quite nondescript really  but not unpleasant) but does it age-proof your skin?  Well, I have only used it twice so I can’t personally attest to that but would go so far as to say that on paper, it has some great nature-inspired  ingredients to help you with that quest and for that reason it may be worth a go.
